Biochemistry

• Opportunities to develop/use intracellular biosensors in studies of the mechanism of action of cytosolic human thioredoxin in cancer cells. The candidate should have strong interest in biochemistry/molecular and cell biology. See cytosol.
• Opportunities for biochemical studies of truncated human thioredoxin. The candidate should have strong interest in using biochemical/biophysical tools such as: protein mutagenesis, expression and purification; protein chemistry (cleavage and labeling); protein spectroscopy (fluorescence, absorption, circular dichroism, nuclear magnetic resonance), and biochemical/biological activity assays.

Molecular Biophysics

• Opportunities for experimental/computational biophysical studies of electrostatics in protein stability. The candidate should have a strong physical chemistry background and interest in protein thermodynamics and spectroscopy (fluorescence, absorption, circular dichroism, nuclear magnetic resonance).
